Supporting Child in Need and Child Protection Cases
Following a nationwide extension of the Department for Education’s guidance, Virtual Schools are now responsible for promoting the education of all children with a social worker.
At AfC Virtual School, we work closely with Designated Safeguarding Leads to provide targeted support for children who are subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans. Within the local authority, we offer a range of initiatives aimed at improving attendance, reducing exclusions, and raising attainment for this vulnerable cohort.
We also offer consultations for social workers, which provide professionals with access to expert advice and guidance, as well as the Transition Hub, which delivers tailored support to help children with a social worker manage key educational transitions successfully.
Attendance is a vital contributor to academic success. We monitor attendance daily through our partners at Welfare Call and celebrate students who demonstrate improved or outstanding attendance. You can read more about our approach and outcomes in our Spring Term Report and Summer Term Report. We are grateful to Designated Teachers, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Social Workers, parents and carers for their continued commitment to encouraging full attendance at school.
