Personal Education Plans
What is a PEP?
Personal Education Plans (PEPs) are statutory documents designed to support the education of children in care and improve their long-term outcomes. All school-aged looked-after children must have three PEP reviews per academic year, each setting SMART, education-focused targets.
AfC Virtual School oversees the administration and quality assurance of electronic PEPs (ePEPs) from the year before school entry to the end of Year 13. To support professionals in the process, we recommend the following guidance:
Who should attend an ePEP meeting?
The Social Worker arranges the ePEP meeting and identifies who should be invited. The following attendees are essential:
-
Designated Teacher
-
Social Worker
-
Carer
Where possible, the young person should attend and may lead the meeting if appropriate. This is a valuable opportunity to recognise their achievements. If they choose not to attend, their views should be gathered in advance and shared during the meeting.
